About Suvita
Suvita is an impact-driven, evidence-based nonprofit focused on increasing uptake of routine childhood vaccinations in India. Roughly half of the 19 million children who still miss basic vaccines are based in India, where one child dies every four minutes from vaccine-preventable diseases. We run two rigorously tested, complementary programs:
-
Immunisation ambassadors: We identify and train local opinion leaders to volunteer as vaccination advocates to share reminders with families in their communities.
-
SMS reminders: We send personalised SMS messages to caregivers to prompt timely attendance at government clinics.
Since our founding in 2019:
-
One in ten children born in India benefits from our SMS vaccination reminders.
-
We’ve reached over 40 lakh families and enabled an estimated 84,000 children to become fully vaccinated.
-
We are partners with government health departments in Maharashtra and Bihar
-
GiveWell estimates that it costs $1-2 per child reached, which is 23× as cost-effective as their bar of unconditional cash transfers.
-
We have been incubated and funded by sector leaders like The/Nudge Foundation, Ambitious Impact (formerly Charity Entrepreneurship), Mulago Foundation, GiveWell, D-Prize, Founders Pledge and Schmidt Futures.
-
We have appeared in YourStory, Vox, Giving What We Can and the 80,000 Hours Podcast.
About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated, analytical Routine Immunisation Consultant who’s excited to work at the heart of Maharashtra’s immunisation ecosystem. You’ll be based at the Routine Immunisation Cell within the State Family Welfare Bureau, working closely with the State Immunisation Officer (SIO) for most of the week, while staying closely connected to Suvita’s 27-person Maharashtra team.
This role is a strong fit if you enjoy translating datasets into actionable insights, building relationships across government systems, and staying grounded in the impact your work has on children’s health. You’ll bring your technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills to bear on critical challenges—helping coordinate state-wide immunisation efforts, interpret data from systems like HMIS and NCCMIS, and support key campaigns and review processes.
You’ll help shape Suvita’s Maharashtra programming at a pivotal moment of growth. Beyond your work with the RI Cell, you’ll contribute to internal strategy, data reviews, and field learning—helping us deepen our impact and refine our approach. With active operations across all 36 districts and major expansion planned for our immunisation ambassador programme, this is a high-impact opportunity to support both state and national efforts to increase childhood vaccine coverage.
If you’re someone who thrives at the intersection of public systems, programme design, and mission-driven execution, and you’re eager to help improve vaccination coverage for thousands of children across Maharashtra, we’d love to hear from you.
