About Suvita

Suvita is a startup nonprofit working to increase uptake of routine childhood immunisations in India. We are impact-focused and currently deliver two evidence-based programmes to boost attendance at vaccination appointments:

  1. Identifying natural community influencers and supporting them to act as immunisation ambassadors

  2. Sending SMS reminders directly to new parents and caregivers, to help them remember when their child is due for a vaccination.

About the role

As a Business Development & Communications Officer, you will work closely with Co-Founders on prospecting and proposal writing to generate a healthy pipeline of funding from global trusts and foundations. Our goal is to raise approx. 1 million USD for 2022, about half of which is expected to be from global trusts and foundations.

  2. Lead the proposal development process (30%)

    • Work with Co-Founders to brainstorm ideas and approaches to different funding opportunities, including developing lightweight outlines for proposals.

    • Build on the above discussions to write initial drafts of proposals.

    • Organise proposal writing timelines to ensure there is a comfortable amount of time for feedback and review.

  3. Coordinate and finalise external communications outputs (20%)

    • Set up and execute a communications calendar which maps the rollout of different outputs communicating noteworthy and valuable information about Suvita to an external audience.

    • Draft and proofread externally-facing communications, including reports, press releases, website content, speeches and newsletter content that communicates Suvita's activities.

Who should apply?

  • You have excellent scientific writing skills. You are able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to a high standard with a diverse range of people and audiences at different levels of understanding and ability.

  • You are conscientious, analytical and attentive to detail with the ability to work successfully on your own initiative, organise and prioritise your own workload effectively whilst facing competing demands and pressures to achieve objectives.

  • You have an interest in and understanding of the international development nonprofit sector, particularly as it relates to global health programmes.

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required.

  • University degree preferred, but not required.

Benefits

  • Suvita’s work saves lives. You get the opportunity to work in a mission-driven, impact-focused organisation with strong values, delivering programmes grounded in a solid evidence base.
