About Suvita

Suvita is an impact-driven, evidence-based nonprofit focused on increasing uptake of routine childhood vaccinations in India. Over 4 million children born every year still miss their basic vaccinations in India, leading to far too many vaccine-preventable deaths. We run two rigorously tested, complementary programs:

  1. Immunisation ambassadors: We identify and train local opinion leaders to volunteer as vaccination advocates to share reminders with families in their communities.

  2. SMS reminders: We send personalised SMS messages to caregivers to prompt timely attendance at government clinics.

Since our founding in 2019:

  • One in ten children born in India benefits from our SMS vaccination reminders.

  • We’ve reached over 4 million families and enabled an estimated 84,000 children to become fully vaccinated.

  • We are partners with government health departments in Maharashtra and Bihar

About the Role

Do you love digging into data to inform decision-making? Are you excited to use this skill to have a major impact on access to health?

We are looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (ME&L) Manager to lead our use of data to learn about and improve our programmes. You will focus on asking and answering impact-relevant questions to feed into our programme design. This will include a variety of workflows such as:

  • Working with Co-founders and Programme Managers to come up with research questions and hypotheses which we should test with the aim of increasing our programmes’ impact at scale. Testing these hypotheses (including with inputs/advice from our network of partners where useful) and deciding which changes we should make to our programming as a result.

  • Using administrative data from our government partners to conduct impact evaluations of our programmes.

  • Defining priority programme metrics which will be suitable indicators of impact as our programmes scale, then setting up systems to monitor them.

  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative MEL activities to increase our clarity around the mechanism of impact of our programmes.

  • Identifying and using suitable data sources to inform our scaling strategy - e.g. liaising with state government partners to identify the best data source to investigate district-level and block-level heterogeneity in immunisation rates to help decide whether our scaling should be targeted or universal.

  • Managing junior staff within the M&E team, such as Research Analysts, to ensure high-quality implementation of MEL activities and smooth coordination across projects.

The role will involve working with a range of senior colleagues including Co-Founders, Programme Managers and Head of Tech, as well as engaging with our partners and advisors (such as academics and research institutions)

Who you are

  • Deeply committed to impact and aligned with Suvita’s values.

  • High agency - you can find a way to get done what needs to be done, without waiting for conditions to be perfect or otherwise blaming the circumstances

  • Professional with 5 years or equivalent experience

  • You have experience leading a small team

  • Strong quantitative background with applied data analysis experience.

  • Fluent in STATA / R and comfortable working with large datasets.

  • Accurate and detail-oriented: you produce clean, reliable outputs.

  • Organised and reliable: you manage your own workflow and deadlines.

  • Clear communicator in both written and spoken formats.

  • Quick learner with curiosity for new methods, tools, and contexts.

  • Resilient and adaptable when priorities shift or challenges arise.

  • Proactive: you flag issues and suggest improvements rather than waiting to be asked.
